The last road race of the awesome Bangalore Bicycle Championships 2016 season is going with a Nandi Epic 100km & 61Km Road Race on NH-7 Bangalore - Hydrabad Highway.

Get your race face on people and get ready for a rocking at the Bangalore Bicycle Championships.

Categories :
* Elite (Open for all)
PS : Who participate in Elite should stick to Elite category for rest of the season, they cann't go back to Amateur in other road races of this season.
Elite category is also open for anybody who wants to race but since that is the category where most of the pro cyclists take part, it is better to have some good level of experience to enroll into Elite category otherwise it might cause inconvenience for the entire peloton due to handling and skill set.
* Amateur
Amateur category is open for anybody who wants to race irrespective of age.
* Master (Open for Men and Women)
Participants age should be 35 years and above as on race day. Riders are free to participate in Elite/Amateur category if they wish to.
Masters category is for anybody who is above 35 years of age irrespective of gender.
* Women
- Girls below the age of 18 may opt for Women category also if they wish to.
* Under18 (both boys and girls)
Participants age should lesser than 18 years as on race day. Proof of age needs to be produced at the time of bib collection
Under-18 category is common for both boys and girls who are below the age of 18.

PRE-RACE DETAILS
The race will start at 7am. Get to the venue at 6-6:15am. Make sure you pre-register and digitally sign your indemnity form online, so you just have to collect your bib numbers on race day. The start will be a little past the Airport toll gate and finish will be a Nandi Hill Gate.

Start Location
Race HQ is 3 km from the airport toll gate. Take a U-turn when you see the Cafe Coffee Day and HP petrol bunk on the opposite side on the highway where bib collection, pre-race briefing and staging will take place. Cars can be parked in the service lane.

100km Course Description

THE WAY OUT
The race rolls north on NH-7, past a couple intersections that will be marshaled. After 37 km of rolling terrain, some really long flyovers, exposed highway, and south-westerly crosswinds to deal with, the race "descends" 8 km, on straight and fast highway, to the U-turn point. The U-turn will be marshaled and will have a neutral feed station.

THE WAY BACK
The first challenge of the course is the 8 km of highway climbs from the U-turn point. Once that is behind you, the race continues to go south until the marshaled right-hander that has you crossing the highway and put riders on the approach to Nandi. Here, you have to deal with a block headwind, a railway crossing, a series of low speed humps and a false-flat all the way to the base of the climb.

THE EPIC CLIMB
Nandi Hills is a double headed climb. The total climb is 7.34 km at around 5%. The first 4 km is the shallower bit to a saddle point where you switch from Nandi I to Nandi II. The last 3 km to the summit of Nandi II is steeper, includes some steep switchbacks and kicks to the finish!

RIDE TIPS
  • Try and get a long ride (or two) around the 3hr+ mark in this weekend
  • It will take anywhere from 2:45 to 4:30hrs to complete this distance
  • Drink: 600ml/hr, so that’s a minimum of 2-3 bottles
  • Eat: 200-300 Calories/hr (800-1200 kJ/hr)
  • Replenish electrolytes lost in sweat through Gatorade, Enerzal or Electral
  • The human body can, in theory, go forever, so everyone can finish this distance, provided you fuel it right
  • A banana and a bottle of water is NOT going to cut it!
